pinball repair and restoration

Online Resources Online Resources Hot

There are a lot of online resources available to pinballers.  Here's a list of some of my favorites.

Pinball Parts and Supplies

The top three pinball parts sources are: Pinball Life, Marco Specialties and Bay Area Amusements.  They are located respectively in the Midwest, East Coast and West Coast.  Marco Specialties has the largest selection, Pinball Life tends to be the cheapest and Bay Area Amusements website is difficult to navigate.

While all of the three sites mentioned above sell LED's I also like Cointakers.

Pin Restore is a good site for tools and supplies specific to pinball repair.

When it comes to cosmetic parts (plastics, ramps, etc.) there are several dozen sites that may have what you need (including eBay).  The best approach is to Google a good description of what you're looking for (i.e. - Terminator 2 pinball left ramp) and also get the part number from the manual and try searching that way (i.e. - pinball A102-4567).

Online Resources

One site I should mention that is a great resource for reproduction parts is Illinois Pinball.  Unfortunately you will have to call them since only a small portion of their stock is listed on the website.

Great Plains Electronics and Big Daddy Enterprises are both good choice for electronic components (transistors, capacitors, etc.).

Service Manuals

The best place to get service or operators manuals is the International Pinball Database.  Just search for the game you're interested in.  The site also includes details on each game, photos and reviews.

Repair Information

Of course I'm biased but I think Pinball Rehab has the highest quality and most authoritative repair and restoration information.  Of course if you can't find what you want, give PinWiki or PinRepair a try.  PinRepair also has a series of DVD's on pinball repair that are both fun and informative.

The PinRepair DVD's are also available through most parts suppliers.

There are a lot of other good sites out there with smaller amounts of info that do a very good job of covering specific types of repair or restoration.  Just Google the word pinball and your specific issue.

The best forum for getting help with specific problems is on Pinside.  Be aware though that as with any forum the quality of the assistance can vary.

Pinball Pricing

Although available in printed form rather than online, Mr. Pinball's Pinball List and Price Guide is a valuable resource for any buyer or seller.  Most of the parts suppliers also sell this book.

Boston Pinball has an online summary of eBay pinball sales.

Pinside also has pricing information although I'm not sure how accurate it is since it's based on member's submissions.

Pinside is the largest online community of pinballers.
